Christ the King: The True Gospel and the Supremacy of Jesus Over All Creation

By Terrence Wild
Christian NewsMagazine – November 2025 Edition

The true Gospel of Jesus Christ is not a moral improvement plan, a religious comfort zone, or a personal coping mechanism. It is a declaration of sovereignty—of the absolute supremacy of the Lord Jesus Christ over all creation, both in heaven and on earth. The heart of the Gospel is not only that Jesus saves, but that Jesus reigns.

From Genesis to Revelation, the central truth of Scripture is that all authority, power, and glory belong to the Son of God. The prophets foresaw it, the apostles preached it, and the Church was built upon it: “Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:11).

That single claim—that Christ is King—has always been the dividing line between truth and rebellion, life and death, the kingdom of God and the kingdoms of men.

The Offense of Kingship

When Jesus walked the earth, He was not condemned for healing the sick or teaching moral truth. He was executed because He claimed authority—royal, divine, and absolute authority—over all mankind.

The religious leaders of Israel understood exactly what He meant when He said, “Before Abraham was, I AM” (John 8:58). The Roman Empire, though tolerant of many gods, would not tolerate a rival king. In their system, Caesar alone held the title “Lord.” To confess Jesus as King was therefore an act of treason against Rome and blasphemy against the religious establishment.

So they crucified Him—not because He lacked evidence of His divinity, but because they refused to submit to it. His crown was of thorns, His throne was a cross, but His title—“King of the Jews”—was written in every language above His head for all the world to read.

“Pilate therefore said unto Him, ‘Art thou a king then?’ Jesus answered, ‘Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world.’”
— John 18:37

That was the issue then—and it remains the issue now.

The Modern Rebellion Against the Kingship of Christ

In today’s religious and political environment, the same spiritual battle rages. The world is willing to tolerate Jesus as a moral teacher, a prophet, or even a “personal savior.” But call Him King—the absolute ruler of heaven and earth, the one who commands obedience—and the hostility returns.

Modern culture rejects authority in all its forms, especially divine authority. Society insists that freedom means self-rule, that truth is subjective, and that morality is negotiable. Even within much of modern Christianity, the emphasis has shifted away from the Lordship of Christ toward a consumer faith centered on comfort, self-fulfillment, and emotional experience.

Yet the Gospel does not offer Christ as a life coach—it proclaims Him as Lord of Lords. You cannot receive Him as Savior while rejecting Him as King. The cross does not give us permission to live as we please; it grants us power to live as He commands.

“Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”
— Luke 6:46

Freedom and Responsibility Under the Divine Covenant

The irony is that God, by divine decree, gave mankind the very freedom to reject Him. Free will is not a loophole—it is the sacred trust of creation. From the beginning, God desired worshipers, not slaves; children, not captives. Adam was free to obey or disobey, and every man and woman since then has stood at that same crossroads.

But for those who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and King, the terms of that freedom are transformed. The Gospel of Salvation is a covenant—a divine contract sealed in the blood of Christ. By entering it, believers acknowledge that their lives no longer belong to themselves. They have yielded to His authority, accepted His government, and received His Spirit.

“You are not your own; you were bought with a price.”
— 1 Corinthians 6:19–20

This means that every decision, every action, and every silence carries moral weight. Those who claim the name of Christ are not exempt from accountability. We are responsible for the choices we make—and for those we fail to make—in light of the Kingdom to which we belong.

Identity Beyond Belief

This truth pierces deeper than simple belief. Faith is not merely intellectual assent; it is identity. The Christian life is not defined primarily by what we believe but by who we are—and who Jesus Christ declares us to be.

When we confess that Jesus is King, we are not making a statement of opinion; we are submitting to a divine reality that governs every area of existence. Our identity is not self-determined—it is Christ-defined.

“If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17

To live otherwise—to claim His name but deny His rule—is spiritual hypocrisy. The Kingdom of God does not operate on preference but on purpose. And the purpose of the believer is to manifest the reign of Christ in every realm—personal, familial, civic, and cultural.

The Cost of Rejection and the Call to Obedience

The world remains offended at the authority of Christ for the same reason it crucified Him two thousand years ago: people do not want to be told that someone else has the right to rule over them. Yet even in their rejection, they are exercising the freedom God gave them. The tragedy is not that people are free to reject Christ—it is that so many do, even after hearing the truth.

For those who accept Him, there is no middle ground. The call of Christ is a call to total allegiance. It is not enough to say, “I believe.” The question Heaven asks is, “Who are you?”—and the answer must align with what Jesus has declared about those who are His.

Those who live under His Kingship are commanded to walk in righteousness, to speak truth in love, to make decisions that reflect His character, and to bear witness to His authority in all things.

The consequences of rejecting that call are serious and eternal. But the rewards of obedience—peace, purpose, and eternal fellowship with the King—are beyond measure.

Christ Reigns—Now and Forever

The Gospel is not merely an invitation to forgiveness—it is a summons to allegiance. Jesus Christ reigns supreme. His crown cannot be removed by unbelief, and His throne cannot be shaken by rebellion. The kingdoms of this world rise and fall, but the government of God remains forever on His shoulders.

And whether the world acknowledges it or not, the truth stands unchanged: Jesus Christ is King.

Elections: A Turning Point for America

Where Were The Christian?

By Terrence Wild
Christian NewsMagazine – November 2025 Edition

The headlines following the November 2025 elections focused on the political upheaval that swept across the nation. Progressive candidates—some openly identifying as socialist, Muslim, or anti-Christian in worldview—rose to prominence in cities and states once considered bastions of traditional values. The media celebrated this as a “victory for diversity and democracy.” Yet from a Christian perspective, the real story runs much deeper and far more consequential: America has once again chosen leaders and ideologies that stand in direct opposition to the revealed will of the true and living God, Jesus Christ the Son of God.

This was not merely a political outcome—it was a moral and spiritual revelation.

The Gospel and the Power to Choose

At the heart of the Christian Gospel is the gift of choice—the freedom to choose righteousness, truth, and obedience to God. From Eden to Calvary, Scripture affirms that humanity has been endowed with moral agency. Through Jesus Christ, that choice is redeemed and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

“Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
— 2 Corinthians 3:17

This liberty is not simply political; it is spiritual. It is the divine empowerment to align our will with God’s. When the American people entered the voting booths in 2025, they exercised that freedom. But tragically, they used it to endorse policies, ideologies, and leaders that deny the very foundation of that liberty—the Lordship of Christ.

The election was not simply about economics, education, or climate change. It was a referendum on moral authority—Who rules? Who defines truth? Who governs the hearts of men and nations? The Bible answers without hesitation:

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder.”
— Isaiah 9:6

That “government” is not a metaphor. It is a divine reality that encompasses heaven and earth. Jesus Christ is not a distant religious figure; He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the rightful ruler of all creation. Every earthly government functions under His sovereign oversight, whether it acknowledges Him or not.

When the People Reject the King

The outcome of the 2025 elections should therefore not surprise us—it should sober us. The people did what fallen humanity has always done: they chose the rule of man over the rule of God. In doing so, they repeated the tragic cry of ancient Israel:

“We will not have this man to reign over us.” — Luke 19:14

This rejection is not merely political—it is deeply spiritual. America has not merely turned from certain policies; it has turned from the Person those policies once reflected. Christian values—honesty, integrity, justice, compassion, life, and liberty—are not abstract virtues. They flow from the very nature of God Himself. When a society rejects the character of God, it inevitably rejects the values that sustain civilization.

To separate “values” from “the One whose character defines them” is to construct a hollow moral shell. This is precisely what modern secularism and progressive ideology have done: they have taken the fruits of Christian morality while denying the root from which they grow. The result is a nation that speaks of justice but knows no righteousness, that praises freedom while enslaved to sin, and that preaches tolerance but persecutes truth.

The Failure of the Church’s Voice

But before Christians point fingers at the culture, we must ask an uncomfortable question: Where was the Church?

The people who were entrusted with proclaiming the truth—the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Lord of Heaven and Earth—failed to deliver it with conviction, unity, and power. The Church, divided and distracted, allowed political fear, cultural compromise, and theological confusion to silence its prophetic voice.

It is not the unbeliever’s fault that they chose wrongly; it is the believer’s failure that they were not shown a better choice. The spiritual power to convict, persuade, and transform lies not in political movements but in the living presence of the Holy Spirit working through the Body of Christ.

“For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.” — 1 Corinthians 4:20

When that power is absent, the Church’s message becomes weak and irrelevant. The salt loses its savor. The light is hidden under a basket. And in that vacuum, false ideologies rush in to fill the void.

A Call to Renewal and Responsibility

The 2025 elections were not the end of America’s story—but they were a divine warning. The coming 2026 elections and beyond will test whether the Church has learned its lesson. God’s people must once again recognize that participation in civil government is not optional—it is stewardship.

Voting, advocacy, and civic engagement are extensions of spiritual obedience when done in submission to Christ’s Lordship. Christians are not called to withdraw from the public square but to redeem it. We are called to speak truth in love, to model righteousness, and to advance justice as ambassadors of the true King.

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” — Psalm 33:12

America’s destiny is not sealed by an election result, but by whether God’s people will repent, pray, and act under the authority of Jesus Christ. The ultimate government—the Government of God—still stands. It rests upon the shoulders of the only One worthy to bear it.

The question remains: Will the Church rise and represent Him faithfully before the next vote is cast?
